Expectations

Every member must sign and comply with these rules for this club to be successful.

Mission Statement: The EC Robotix club is a diverse group of students and volunteers that are gathered to do one thing: learn more about how to build, program and operate robots. We do this through large group lecture, small group discovery, partner sharing and individual motivation.

  1. To be a member of the club, you must attend every meeting. If you miss more than five meetings throughout the year, you will be asked to remove yourself from the club. It’s important that everyone be here every time to help their team achieve all they can.
  2. It’s important to note that this is a mature group of young adults and not after school “day care”. If you are not here because you are genuinely interested, please find another club to join.
  3. Responsible use of the robotics equipment is not only encouraged but is also expected. If a student repeatedly damages property or removes property without consent of the teacher, they will face administrative consequences.
  4. Respect for others is what makes our group a safe place to discover and to learn. Every student needs to listen when another is talking and should expect that other student to also listen when they’re speaking.
  5. Students will be encouraged to discover new and exciting ways of making their robots perform, and they will be expected to independently seek out answers. They will be expected to search out answers instead of relying on others to find them for them.
  6. Student behavior must be civil at all times. If a student is found to be abusive, destructive or offensive in any way, there is no “office” to send them to. They will be asked to leave.

Structure of club time:

We will meet on Wednesdays after school from 2pm to 4pm.  We will spend the first 10-15 minutes of club time to discuss our goals for that day so make sure you’re on time! The structure of the meeting will be:

2:00-2:15: outline of the lesson for the day

2:15-2:30: get out equipment

2:30-3:45: work, learn and discover

3:45-4:00: clean up
